MILAN - Yesterday afternoon at the Catholic University of Milan the formative course entitled "Coach today: between formation and performance" was finished. Present there was also Adriano Galliani, who did not subtract himself to the journalists' questions:
On the transfer rumours linking Milan to Thiago Silva, the delegate administrator answered as follows: "We are the most title-winning club in the world, it's normal that every player wants to come and play for us. We are happy there is interest, but that doesn't mean it's mutual. We must not think about the market, but about winning this Scudetto. I will never talk about the market until the end of the season. We have faith in this group and we will go on with these players. I like those kinds of players a lot, the Brazilians say good things about him (Thiago Silva), but he doesn't have a EU passport and he will not be able to come this year. Next season we will need one or two reinforcements in defence, because Paolo Maldini will quit, and we will have to find someone to replace him, which won't just be hard, it will be impossible."
On the rumours of Andriy Shevchenko's possible departure for Real Madrid on loan: "It's not true that Shevchenko is going to Real Madrid, I deny it. This group started like this and will not have any changes in January. We will go forward with these players until the end of the season, and the season is very long. Sheva is in a good condition, he's played well and he's growing. The striker department, aside from Borriello, is without injuries. Sheva really wants to play, he's like Ronaldinho two months ago."
As usual one of the topics was the arrival of David Beckham: "Beckham is not a purchase, he asked to play two months. He will arrive at the Dubai training ground and will leave before the end of March, he will play 10 games."
On the league and the match between Inter and Juve: "I'm not hoping for anything, I don't know what's better (laughs), I swear I don't. I just hope Milan win in Turin. The number one candidate, along with Milan, for the league victory is Inter. I think they have something more than Juve. Who between Mourinho and Ranieri is closer to Milan's philosophy? Carlo Ancelotti is the closest to our philosophy! Carlo has a contract until 2010, there is no heir, and my dream is that Milan can keep Ancelotti for many years. If we didn't separate after Istanbul or after the first two matches of this season... I agree with Mourinho because the appeal of Italian football has decreased, this is because of our old and empty stadiums. Mourinho often makes intelligent observations, no one had ever talked about the fact that our league isn't watched in England and Germany. That's because it has little appeal."
He then went on to talk about the Ballon D'Or award: "To get the Ballon D'Or you can't ask help to the federations. Milan have won a lot of them, but they were always assigned by juries composed of journalists. I have no regrets about 2006, maybe Juventus could have them, because Ibrahimovic was bought by Inter. We did not close the operation, but without Ibrahimovic we became Club World Champions. Without a doubt he remains a great player."
